The NEDRA Board has voted for NEDRA to become a Specialized Chapter
of the Electric Auto Association. Similar to the alliance Plug-in
America has with the EAA. This has also been approved by the EAA and
is official as of this week.
Many NEDRA members are also EAA members already so this is a natural
progression and will benefit both organizations. This is particularly
true in planning events and the cross pollination that has been going
on between NEDRA and the various EAA Chapters for several years now.
As an EAA Chapter, NEDRA will become a Type U organization which will
protect NEDRA's finances and aid in sponsorship until NEDRA becomes
an official 501(c)-3 organization, a process that can take up to half
a year to complete.
On the surface NEDRA will still appear and operate the same. The
Board will operate the same and the NEDRA logo will not change and
will still represent NEDRA in it's traditional role. Since NEDRA is
becoming a highly-visible organization in the press, thanks to the
devotion of every active NEDRA member out there racing and supporting
the organization in various capacities, it will be a benefit for the
EAA as well.
