Cooling fan for the motor
« on: June 13, 2010, 03:20:23 AM »
Where can I get a kit for the cooling fan for the 9" warp motor--PioneerConversion???  Is the fan on Todd Dore's Beetle sufficient for cooling?  Todd's last posting seemed to say the motor was not getting properly cooled.  How much cfm is needed to cool the motor and where is the  best place to mount a cooling fan?  Is the McMaster Carr link below good?

Tim -

Per my recent post, I do think the motor is getting cooled.  It's just that in a 90+ F day, in the hot afternoon sun, and lots of stop and go traffic (i.e., not much air flowing to the blower motor), the motor still gets hot.  What I may want to do is see if I can make a duct that the outside air flows into, and put a filter in front of the squirrel cage intake to the blower.  I just have not yet chosen a good spot for air to come into.
