On building better mousetraps...
« on: October 01, 2008, 10:20:45 PM »
The EV industry is really in it's infancy now and there are so many opportunities to develop and improve EV technologies.

i challenge FVEAAers specifically and the EV community in general to develop some of our own technology with these goals in mind:

1. Availability - Sometimes we have to wait (months) to get a piece of equipment because it is made by so few companies and don't have the capacity to handle the EVer increasing demand.

2. Affordability - The prices for many technology items are extremely high and should be more affordable to help EV ownership to expand more rapidly.

3. Right-Featured - Some technology has missing features or unnecessary features.

4. Open - The design of these items should be published into the public domain.  Like open source software, open hardware can be built and improved by anyone, which creates better versions more quickly.   This will contribute significantly to achieving the above three goals.

5. Reliable and Safe - The technology should be solid and safe since it will be used in vehicles.
